Ta-Da! Introducing the New Name!

Posted by Denise Hershey on Aug 2nd 2017

In honor of Mother’s day, I am proud to introduce you to the new name of my Jewelry. Last time, I left you with a riddle: What do James Taylor, Valensia, Herb Ernst, and Olivia Newton-John have in common?

The answer is they all have written a song called Gaia or Gaia’s Song.

Introducing - Gaia's Song Jewelry!

The name I‘ve chosen for my jewelry brand is composed of many overlaying meanings that when combined describe the feeling when you wear my jewelry.

Gaia is an old Greek word meaning the Earth. In the Greek pantheon of gods *, she was one of the first, after Chaos (chasm). Gaia is the personification of the earth, Mother Earth, and has come to symbolize the beauty and awesomeness of nature. She is associated with the Gaia’s Hypothesis which asserts that the biological elements on the earth work in concert with one another. What we, as humans, do affects our environment and our well-being.

A Song is a poem set to music. The music is comprised of harmonious chords from one or more instruments. A song is sung to a melody and is often sung with harmonizing voices.

Harmony is a combination of separate but related parts in a way that uses similarities to bring unity to something (eg. a painting, drawing, or other artwork, or also a collaboration or other action)

Our heartbeat is the rhythm of our bodies and rhythm is the heartbeat of a Song.

Taken together, Gaia’s Song Jewelry has the spirit of Gaia sung in a rhythmic song and captured in jewelry made from semiprecious stones from the earth or in the image of earth’s lifeforms such as animals and plants.

The transformation is nearly complete, but you can expect that I will be creating new pieces as well as reintroducing the best of my old jewelry. I have a clearance sale until May 15 on my oldest jewelry. Anything not sold will be recycled to my inventory and will someday become a new piece in my collection.
