2016 Colors of the Year
According to Pantone, the 2016 colors of the year are Serenity and Rose Quartz. This is the first time Pantone has combined two shades for the color of the year. And one of them happens to be a gemstone known for its color. Rose Quartz is a quartz with Titanium that gives it a rosy color.
Sources:
Rose Quartz can be found in Brazil, Madagascar, India, Mozambique, Namibia, Sri Lanka and the United States. It is a popular gemstone for jewelry. Below you can see it carved into a flower and hearts.
Care of Rose Quartz:
Rose Quartz's color can fade. Keep covered when not wearing. It is one of the harder gemstones, but if dropped or struck with something hard, it could chip or shatter. Use a soft cloth to clean.
Metaphysical Properties:
According to the Crystal Bible by Judy Hall, "Rose Quartz is the stone of unconditional love and infinite peace. It is the most important crystal for the heart and the heart chakra, teaching the true essence of love. It purifies and opens the heart at all levels, and brings deep inner healing and self-love. It is calming, reassuring, and excellent for use in trauma or crisis."
